My race rides 02/20/08

2007 was not a super year for me. Actually, it was one I'd rather forget.  I was inconsitent on the gate making it tough to make mains at Nationals.  Sometimes I'd hit that perfect snap and when I did, I'd be out front leading a heat or winning a round.  Unfortuantely, that didn't happen enough to translate into consistent mains.  The last half of the year was spent working alot and without a reliable street/trail bike to ride or the time to do it.  The pro section at the Grands showed me just how rusty my dirt-jumping skills had gotten.  All in all, a rather forgetable year.

Now, it's 2008.

On a brand new ride and back on Redline, but kinda old-school Redline (american BB).  The frame is almost identical to my red one that got stolen at the Grands in 2004 (a year newer Team 20 Pro XL).  Dad bought it for me for Xmas the year the red one got scarfed. It's been in the box ever since and when it came time the end of last year to build a new race bike for 2008, we both said "why not?".  The geomentry is great, it feels awesome and I'm very happy with it on the track.  Gators was the first of the year.  Again, I struggled some with the gate, but the new bike felt much better and I felt better on it on the track.  Gators was planned to be a gauge for me to see what I needed to work on and do to get ready for Desoto.  And as of yesterday, Dad and I picked up my new street/trail bike from Mama's Board & Bike.  It's an Eastern jumping frame with Federal fork, Eastern cranks with spanish BB and ready to ride.  I can't hardly wait to hit the trails.

With so many of the ABA mid to east coast nats this year being Pro-Series events, I'm stoked.  We've got a schedule laid out thats going to take us from Texas to PA.   Dixieland is one this year along with Supercross BMX getting the East Coast Nat.  Can't hardly wait for their rebuild to be complete and get a weekend off to go check it out.  I'm planning on better things this year and better results.  I know what I need to do, I have the tools to do it with now  thanks to Dad and we'll see.......
